"We need to move towards a sustainable future and stop consuming the Earth's resources"
We have consumed more resources the last 30 years than during the whole human history before it. We use close to 1,000 billion plastic bags per year and 8 million tons of plastic ends up at sea, polluting animal life. GAIA's contribution to a more humane world are biodegradable biomaterials with minimal environmental impact.
GAIA have developed a biomaterial, Biodolomer®. It is a mineral filled biodegradable material which can be used in existing production equipment. GAIA offer Biodolomer® granules for a wide range of conversion technologies, including: film blowing, injection molding, sheet extrusion, and bottle blowing.
GAIA is taking part in EU funded Horizon 2020 project SISTERS

Biodolomer® LCA Rapport 2019. “Biodolomer® For Life”, which is part of the European Commission LIFE program, has commissioned an independant consequential LCA of the Biodolomer® material, both as a granulate and in the form of carrier bags. These products were also compared with other materials (for granulates: bio-based and fossil based polyethylene; for carrier bags:´ bags made out of bio-based and fossil based polyethylene respectively and paper bags) in order to draw conclusions on the strengths and areas of improvements for the Biodolomer® material from an environmental impact perspective.
